Patriots Equal Best Victory Run From Brady Years with Win Over Jets
Rookie Henderson has recorded five touchdowns in the present year
New England equaled their best victory streak since the Tom Brady period as they beat AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season
Quarterback Maye threw for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph extends the Patriots advantage at the summit of the division as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets at the foot after falling to a 2-8 mark
The Jets had taken the lead at their home field with QB Fields rushing for a short rushing score to conclude the Jets' first possession
But the Patriots responded in the second period as the rookie scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third period to make it 21-7
"That was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been excellent for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He desires to be excellent."
Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the home side closed out the win
