British Airways to provide complimentary fast onboard wifi through space-based partnership
Passengers on this carrier can soon use quick wifi during flights at no cost after a new agreement involving Elon Musk's space firm.
Free and High-speed Internet Available to Everyone
The airline stated that the free, “reliable and lightning-fast” internet offering from Starlink will be offered to travelers flying economy, business, and first class starting next month.
Broad Implementation Across Multiple Carriers
The umbrella organization of British Airways, International Airlines Group, stated it had secured an agreement with SpaceX for providing connectivity services for 500-plus planes across the group's operators, which also include the Irish airline, the Spanish carrier, and the low-cost airline.
Uninterrupted Wifi from Gate through Arrival
The airline stated that the introduction for the technology was included in a multi-billion pound “modernization” program and will offer smooth connectivity access to flyers from the gate through landing, including when they are flying over oceans or far-off locations.
Passengers may link several gadgets and do not require a separate login.

Present Wifi Offerings
Restricted wifi access is currently offered to BA flyers on the majority of the airline's planes through its .air system.
Participants of the airline's frequent flyer program can dispatch messages and plain-text messages in the air without paying, whereas passengers wishing to stream audio, movies, or movies on their travel who are not flying in business or first may be charged from ÂŁ4.99 to twenty-one pounds ninety-nine for one connectivity bundle.
The Satellite Infrastructure
Starlink uses a network of thousands with satellites which is operated under Elon Musk’s aerospace firm.
Recent Improvements for BA
Their management are working to turn operations again following a period with cost cutting, system failures, industrial action, plus mass redundancies.
BA stated that application with smart technology had helped them to reach their timeliness at peak performance since 2012.
Profit Performance
Earlier this year, BA disclosed a jump for operating profits during H1 recently, helping to push IAG’s earnings upward.
International Airlines Group will report their financial performance covering the three months from July to September shortly.
Other Starlink Agreements
The airline's announcement comes days following mobile phone operator the telecom firm announced it was working with SpaceX to improve cellular connectivity in the countryside across the United Kingdom, enabling users to automatically link phones via space-based systems if there is no traditional cellular service can be found.
