The Gunners' boss feels assured that his team can persist in handling with player absences following disclosing that star striker Kai Havertz will not return for a few more weeks.

Prolonged Recovery for German Star

The German forward has been out since the summer after undergoing an operation on his knee. Initially expected to be available at the start of this month, Arteta explained the player encountered a problem when advancing his recovery and could not progress “to the next level.”

“We learned, and we were able to put together a team that is much more reliable and has increased versatility,” commented Arteta.

This development presents a selection headache for the midweek match against Brentford. “Our previous experiences taught us that we have to use players in alternative spots, and they must be capable to adapt to new tasks if we are to fight at the top. And the example of Mikel is just the best one.”

Speaking about the delay noted by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta offered further detail. “His recovery was progressing. He could not go to the subsequent stage and now it appears like we have unlocked that.”

Arteta expressed his keenness to have him back. “We’re all desperate to have him. Truly, Havertz is someone that, in my view, I love so much for the qualities he offers to the team, but his character, his personality. I see him suffer being outside.”
